About PlayCountZero

PlayCountZero is an underground music discovery platform built for one purpose: finding music before anyone else does.

Every track on this site has near-zero plays. That is the whole point.

How It Works

Most music discovery platforms show you what is already popular. Spotify’s algorithm surfaces tracks with millions of streams. YouTube’s recommendations push content that is already trending. PlayCountZero does the opposite.

Our system automatically scans YouTube and SoundCloud every few hours, searching for freshly uploaded tracks across genres like Hip-Hop, Rap, Electronic, House, Techno, Drum and Bass, Ambient, Lo-Fi, Indie, Jazz, Folk, Reggae, and more. We filter for tracks with genuinely low play counts — music that has been uploaded but not yet discovered.

Every track goes through several filters before it appears on the site. Non-music content, instrumentals, type beats, royalty-free background music, and AI-generated tracks are all screened out automatically. What remains is real music from real independent artists who have not yet had their moment.

The Community

Once tracks are on the site, the community decides what rises. Every track can be voted Hot or Cold. The most voted tracks climb the leaderboards. The least convincing ones fade away.

This is not a radio station. You are not a passive listener. You are a tastemaker. When you vote a track hot and it later blows up, you were there first.

The Player

The persistent player at the bottom of the screen means you never lose your place. Browse, filter, vote, and switch genres while your track keeps playing. The queue builds automatically — when the visible tracks run out, the player fetches the next batch from the database and keeps going. You can listen to hours of underground music without lifting a finger.

The Leaderboards

The leaderboard section tracks what the community is responding to across different time windows — this week, this month, this year, and all time. Hidden Gems shows the most voted tracks that still have under 100 plays — the rarest finds on the site.

Submit a Track

Found something worth sharing? Use the Submit button at the top of the page. Paste a YouTube, SoundCloud or Bandcamp link and it goes into the review queue. If it passes the filters it will appear on the site.
